FIRE HORSE STATEMENT
Today, November 30, 2023, a new EP will be released, and unfortunately, this will also be the last material that Fire Horse will release. It will be a farewell EP. The band members are all too busy with various matters to give Fire Horse the attention it deserves. So has singer/guitarist Kevin Stunnenberg’s family life recently expanded, and bassist Peter van Elderen is busy with the upcoming opening of his gallery and his other projects, which required concessions and choices to be made. Drummer Guy Pek will also continue with his other projects. Unfortunately, this means the end for Fire Horse. Fortunately, there is one last effort to alleviate the sorrow in the form of an EP with new songs, which will be released on November 30 through Suburban Records and will be available for listening on all popular digital platforms https://orcd.co/firehorsepurgatory.

A new Dutch heavy rock trio, sprung forth from rock & roll’s darkest hour. But one that has more than half a century of experience collectively in bands like Birth of Joy, Peter Pan Speedrock and Grenadeers: the all-star rock band FIRE HORSE releases its aptly titled debut album ‘Out of the Ashes’ on September 2nd of 2022 on the infamous Haarlem record label Suburban Records. The band, named after bassist Van Elderen’s birth year of 1966, has risen from the smouldering ashes of what once was. According to Chinese astrology, the Horse coupled with the element Fire is trustworthy, temperamental, volatile, lively, enthusiastic and optimistic.
Musically Fire Horse harkens back to both the Seventies and the Nineties and, according to the band, navigates between solid power rock and post-grunge: from the desert rock of Masters Of Reality and Queens Of The Stone Age to Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Royal Blood or Wolfmother. In other words: a unique twist on classic rock with a passion for unbridled improvisation.

Kevin: “In the beginning of 2019 my former band Birth of Joy ended after a wild eleven year ride of rocking and touring internationally. For me it was quitting rock & roll cold turkey and I had to get to know myself all over again. Not much later the corona pandemic broke out. The world came to a grinding halt. Precisely during this period Fire Horse came into being, purely on a basis of fortuitous accidents. I remember that, while working a stupid job, I got a call from Guy asking if I would like to play guitar in The Grenadeers. I thought it could be fun, but I would rather be a frontman.”
“Guy and me got to talking about studio gear. Shortly after we had an informal jam, from which a couple of songs emerged. Meanwhile Peter and me had arranged to jam together also. But unfortunately, during our session the electricity in my studio cut out and we were forced to continue on acoustic guitars. Out of this came a musically special collaboration. I played Peter the recordings of the sessions with Guy and he was very enthusiastic. Not long after this the first rehearsal of Fire Horse was a fact.”
